CHICAGO

the windy city

Welcome to a big American City. Each trip we've enjoyed our time in this beautiful metropolis with family and friends. There is so much to see and do - find some of our personal favorites and recommendations below.

DAY 1

It’s no surprise that Chicago is one of the biggest tourist destinations: there are miles of beachesworld-class museums, and some of the friendliest city-dwellers out there. But in such a gigantic city, it can be tough for visitors to know what’s really worth visiting.

I enjoyed walking down the Navy Pier at sunset.
It is a 3,300-foot-long pier on the Chicago shoreline of Lake Michigan and home to a 200-foot-high Ferris wheel, a beer garden and public art exhibitions galore.

DAY 2

Sky Gate or the reflective "Bean" sculpture at Millennium Park.
This 24.5-acre green park might be one of the most popular gathering spots in the city and reminded me of the English Garden in Munich. It is known for its free concerts, famous public art installations and its proximity to the Loop.

Explore Chicago by bike

Divvy is Chicago's bike share system, with 580 stations and 5,800 bikes. When my friend Rebecca came for a visit, it was a very pleasant and convenient way to get around.

We hopped from station to station and kept each ride to 30min to avoid additional usage fees, so our ride was only $3 and no commitment. You can take as many rides as you want while your pass is active!

CHICAGO RIVERWALK

If you're looking for breathtaking views of some of Chicago's most gorgeous architecture, I recommend a stroll or bike ride along the Riverwalk, which hugs the main branch of the Chicago River and provides a continuous walkway with restaurants, bars and urban attractions at every turn.

OVERVIEW

Looking down on Chicago gives you a great overview of the city. Despite it's name, The Trump Tower (hotel) allows you to go up on the viewing deck for free and offers a magnificent view from The Terrace.
